Shopgirl

   케이블에서 쇼핑걸을 만났다. 원제가 Shopgirl인데 왜 쇼핑걸로 개봉했는지 모를 정도로 제목이랑은 정말 어울리지 않은 이야기다. 가끔 채널 돌리다 보게 되는 케이블 영화 중에서 괜찮은 것들이 있다. 그냥 한번 볼까, 생각했다가 결국엔 마음이 찡해져서 크레딧까지 끝까지 보게 된다. 샵걸도 그랬다. 마지막에 나오던 대사들, 클레어 데인즈와 스티븐 마틴의 표정. 사랑의 감정들에 대한 잔잔하고 소소한 건조하면서 꼼꼼한 이야기였다.

As Ray Porter watches Mirabelle walk away he feels a loss. How is it possible, he thinks, to miss a woman whom he kept at a distance so that when she was gone he would not miss her. Only then does he realize that wanting part of her and not all of her had hurt them both and how he

cannot justify his actions except that... well... it was life.

언젠가 우연히 우리 다시 만나게 되면, 미안했다고 정말 사랑했었다고 말해줄 수도 있겠지.
